On September 16, in Knott’s Berry Farm, a cable came loose on the Xcelerator roller coaster leading to two injuries. The accident caused lacerations to a 12 year old boy and another man complains of back pain. The two guests were taken to the hospital. Since then, the Knott’s Berry Farm officials have suspended the operation of the Xcelerator ride. The ride will remain closed until the Division of Occupational Safety and Health and the Buena Park amusement park completes their investigation.
Cause of the Accident
It is reported that a cable came loose which cause the ride to return back to it’s boarding area. The cable was inspected in December 2008 and the next inspection was due in December 2009.
Other incidents on this ride
The ride was opened around 2002/2003 and is inspected by the staff every day. There were no reported incidents since then and this is the first one.

The boy and the other passenger have both been released from the hospital.
A member on Theme Park Insider -Juegoconfuego says that the kid who got hurt was in front of him and helped his dad in controlling the bleeding before the Medics arrived.
We as parents should always be educated on how to give basic medical help as it could help out in situations like these.
